Accessibility Statement
Last updated: 24 July 2026
Electric Fakery wants its website to be usable by as many people as possible, including people who rely on assistive technologies. This page describes the accessibility features that are built into the site today, along with known limitations.
Measures taken
The site has been built with the following accessibility features:
- Semantic HTML5 structure with landmark regions (header, navigation, main, and footer) and clearly labelled sections.
- A single main page heading and a logical, ordered heading structure.
- A "Skip to content" link for keyboard and screen-reader users.
- Keyboard-operable navigation. The mobile menu uses
aria-expandedandaria-controls, can be closed with the Esc key, closes after a link is chosen, and returns focus to the menu button. - Visible keyboard focus indicators on links, buttons, and form fields.
- Meaningful alternative text on informative images; purely decorative images are hidden from assistive technology.
- An accessible FAQ built with native
<details>elements that work with the keyboard and without scripting. - A contact form with labelled fields, inline error messages linked via
aria-describedby, and a status message announced politely to screen readers. - Respect for the "reduce motion" system setting, which disables animations and smooth scrolling.
- A responsive, mobile-first layout with no horizontal scrolling down to small screen widths.
- Core content, navigation, FAQ, and contact details remain available even when JavaScript is disabled.
- Colour choices intended to provide readable contrast between text and its background.
Conformance target
The site aims to follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. TODO: Replace — confirm the intended conformance target and update this wording once a formal review has been completed.
Known limitations
- This is a demonstration site with sample content (example testimonials and stock photography) that will be replaced before launch; final content has not yet been checked for accessibility.
- The site has not yet been independently audited or tested with a full range of assistive technologies. TODO: Replace — record the results of manual and automated testing once completed.
- Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts; if that service is unavailable, the site falls back to your device's system fonts.
Feedback
If you encounter an accessibility barrier on this site, please let us know so we can put it right:
- Email: hello@electricfaker.com TODO: Replace — confirm the accessibility feedback address
- Phone: (555) 867-5309 TODO: Replace — confirm the correct phone number
TODO: Replace — add a target response time for accessibility feedback (for example, "we aim to respond within 5 business days").
